When will my Virgin Media email be deleted?

Quick answer

About 165 days after Virgin Media's first message to you: at least 45 days to decide, then a 120-day recovery window, then permanent deletion. Enter your letter's date below to see your own dates.

Work out your dates

Worked out in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. Your letter's own dates always win.

There isn't one deadline for everyone. Virgin Media is contacting customers in phases, so your dates depend on when your first message arrived. The timeline comes from Virgin Media O2's announcement.

The three stages

StageHow longWhat it means
DecideAt least 45 days from your first messageMove to Junara, take your emails elsewhere, or close the account.
RecoverA further 120 daysIf you missed the first window, the account can still be recovered.
DeletedAfter 165 days with no actionThe account and all its emails are permanently deleted.

When are the first deadlines?

Messages started going out in September 2026. Email-industry observers estimate the first group's 45-day deadlines fall in late October 2026 and the first permanent deletions around late February 2027 (emailexpert, Spam Resource). These are estimates; your own letter or email gives your dates.

What about the old "90 days after you leave" rule?

Forum posts from before 2026 often say Virgin closes your email about 90 days after you leave broadband. That was Virgin's old policy. The move to Junara replaces it with the timeline above for every Virgin Media address.

Haven't had a message?

Check your Virgin inbox and spam folder for the official message, which contains no clickable sign-up links, and your post. If in doubt, contact Virgin Media using the number on a bill.

Don't leave it until the end

Copying a large mailbox takes time, especially into Gmail, which accepts about 500 MB a day: 1 GB takes about two days, 5 GB about ten. If you plan to leave, start early in the 45-day window. Check your mailbox free to see how big it is.

Keep every email, in a few minutes

Keep My Emails moves your whole Virgin Media mailbox, every folder with its original dates, to Gmail, Outlook or iCloud, or gives you a download. Check your mailbox for free first. One payment, no subscription.
