How much does Junara email cost?
Current Virgin Media customers get Junara free for 12 months (with a 99p fee), or 18 months if they've asked for extra support. Former customers pay from the start. Junara hasn't published Virgin prices; its 2025 Manx Telecom plan cost £65 a year, the best guide so far.
Junara is the email provider taking over Virgin Media's old email service. Whether staying is worth it depends on what you'll pay and how much you use the address. Last checked: 24 October 2026. We update this page when Junara publishes prices.
Who gets it free, and for how long
- Current Virgin Media broadband, landline or TV customers: the first 12 months free, with a 99p transfer fee.
- Customers who've told Virgin they need additional support: the first 18 months free.
- Former customers (no Virgin broadband, landline or TV): you need to sign up to a standard paid Junara plan.

What does a Junara plan cost?
Junara hasn't published a price list for Virgin users; its site shows prices only after you verify your mailbox. The best guide is what Junara charged when it took over Manx Telecom's email in 2025: £65 a year (or £6.50 a month) (ISPreview). Treat that as an estimate, not a confirmed Virgin price. Junara's site also notes that plans have storage limits, so a very large old mailbox may need a higher plan.
What staying could cost over time
Using the £65-a-year Manx price as an estimate (not a confirmed Virgin price), after any free year:
| Years after the free period | Estimated Junara cost |
|---|---|
| 1 year | about £65 |
| 3 years | about £195 |
| 5 years | about £325 |
Moving your emails to a free Gmail, Outlook or iCloud account is a one-off cost instead, but you lose the old address.
What if I stop paying?
Junara suspends the mailbox. You can reactivate it within 120 days; after that it is deleted, with all its emails (Junara). If you might stop paying one day, keep a copy of your emails elsewhere.
Staying vs leaving: a simple way to decide
| Stay with Junara | Move to Gmail / iCloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Keep your old address | Yes | No |
| Keep your old emails | Yes | Yes, if you copy them |
| Cost | Free for a year (current customers), then a yearly fee | Free mailbox; a one-off cost if you use a copying tool |
Stay if dozens of important accounts use your Virgin address and changing them would be painful. Leave if you mainly need the old emails and can update your address on a handful of accounts.
You can do both
Many people take the free year with Junara and copy their emails to Gmail as a backup at the same time, then update their address gradually before the free year ends. Keep My Emails works with your Virgin mailbox now, and copies to any new account.
