Is Junara legit? What to know before you sign up
Yes. Junara is the email service Virgin Media O2 officially chose to take over its old email accounts. It's run by Atmail, an email company that already hosts mail for other providers. Scammers are copying the news, so always type junara.com yourself rather than clicking links.
If you've had a letter or email saying your Virgin Media email is moving to something called Junara, being suspicious is sensible. Scammers love news like this. Here's how to check what's real.
Yes, Junara is the provider Virgin Media chose
Virgin Media O2 announced on 9 September 2026 that its consumer email service, covering ntlworld.com, blueyonder.co.uk, virgin.net and virginmedia.com addresses, is moving to Junara (Virgin Media O2). Junara's own page for Virgin customers is at junara.com/virginmedia.
Who runs Junara?
Junara is run by Atmail, an email company that agreed to take over Virgin Media's consumer email service (Atmail's announcement). Atmail already runs email for other providers, including Manx Telecom's manx.net customers on the Isle of Man, who were moved to a paid plan in 2025 (Manx Radio).
How to tell a real message from a scam
- Real messages don't ask you to click a sign-up link. Virgin Media and Junara say their notices contain no sign-up links.
- Type the address yourself. Go to junara.com in your browser, or open the My Virgin Media app. Don't follow a link in an email or text.
- Never send your password by email or text. Nobody genuine will ask for it like that.
- Be wary of urgent payment demands by text or phone. Junara only asks for payment inside its own website, during sign-up.
- If in doubt, call Virgin Media on the number on your bill.
Neighbourhood Watch has a warning about scams using the Virgin email changes.
What signing up involves
Junara's sign-up asks for a mobile number (for a text code) and an authenticator app for two-step security, and shows prices during sign-up. Your address, emails, contacts and forwarding settings are transferred for you (Junara). Some early users report text codes arriving slowly, so leave yourself time before your deadline.
Do I have to use Junara?
No. Junara is the only way to keep your Virgin email address, but if you mainly care about your old emails, you can copy them to Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or a download and let the Virgin address close.
Is Keep My Emails safe?
Keep My Emails is an independent service that copies your emails out. It never asks for your My Virgin Media password, only a Virgin Media Mail app password, which only opens email and which you can delete afterwards. Passwords are encrypted while a copy runs and erased when it ends. See our privacy policy.
